Exodus 12:38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.
We live in this present WOLRD, where yardstick for a pastor’s success is measured in numerical strength alone.[Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.] And not how many are true Christians and dedicated to the service of God. It is mostly sinners from Mondays till Saturday, then saints on Sundays. Christianity is no longer about living a holy life, but all about doing what you feel and basking in the confession of grace; for we are saved by grace. When the church ought to be the one to turn the world to christ, the church is most time copying the world. Cases abound of comedians taking the stage on the pulpit to make men laugh and have fun. Cases abound in the world where prayers must be recited or made before the opening of any agenda. The so called mixed multitude are the ones in the church who are neither hot nor cold; the bible says people have no place in the community of faith. Read with me, Revelation 3:15-16: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. [King James Version, the bible] Who are these mixed multitude?
These are the Ananias and the sapphiras: They were in the church, but the church could not change them from thier former ways. The church is the place where we all experience the transforming power of the God we serve through his word, from the pastor on the pulpit to the people on the pews. See thier story :Acts 5:1-3 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
These are the Simons, Satan had to used as instrument of unrighteouness to pertuate his evil and deception, but now inside the church, baptised thought they are, still they have not allowed the word of God to develop faith in thier lives, they were still in need of a second touch that they may see proper, for the god of this world has blinded them. This is thier story: Acts 8:9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one. Continue from Acts 8:10-18. To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money. How hard it is for a canal man to understand the ways of God!
3 John 1:9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
These are the money bags who would rather the pastor answer thier beck and call, preach according to thier whims and caprices: They are bereft of common spiritual principle that you allowed the pastor to preach as he is led by the Holyspirit. these are the ones who dictates to the pastor for they have contributed immensely financially to the building project; the pastor fears them, hears them and do thier biddings without admitting it to themselves or telling thier fears to the Holyspirit.
A church where eminent men of God in the bible are spoken of disdainfully , a church where meat and drink is the order of the day yet, the bible says the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, a church where jokes, jesting is what you hear from the pulpit, where the finest clothes are noticed and commented, where sin is carefully avoided in messages and grace is overemphasized, please run away from that place. It does not meet your spiritual need and indeed, can never. You do not run away from the world only to meet same in the church; such a place is anathema.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
