PRAYERS AND GETTING ANSWERS

He was very restless and agitated. The man, his boss, was becoming inefficient by the day. He must prove to the organisation that he was a better hand and can take the company to higher heights, but how to do that seems to be a problem. A problem, until he met a friend, who took him to a prophet of God. One sacrifice, oblation and incantation lead to another. Later, the Boss fell ill; His absenteeism and constant ill health led him to tender his resignation and our man took over, went to his church and celebrated how God answers prayers. A man was late for an interview. on the way, he kept muttering that something will suddenly crop up to delay the boss in Jesus’ name!, claiming this job in the blood of Jesus. There are many prayers that God does not answer, even if we got our desires and we give him the credit. God is already high and lifted. We can not lift him higher with falsehood. There are many who also got their desires without praying. Most time we fall into the latter category, thinking it was God who answered our prayers. That you receive it does not mean it was from God and He will not take credit for it, for He is God. Prayers are so misuse in today’s world that a rethink and a revisit have become necessary. Imagine a man wants to commit sin, break the law, and he prays and fast to God, which God? See James 4:3, Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. For one to get answers to prayers, it behooves us to know who God is. See 1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Many fail to know that God is holy, just pure immaculate and indeed, beyond description, in love, fairness, mercy and forgiveness. First thing to do in getting answers is to know the will of God concerning us! Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. If our prayers have nothing to do with the will of God in our lives, he can not answer such prayers. Let us read the example of Jesus, our lord in the garden; Matthew 26:42, He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. Be wise. God has a will for your life. Find out that will. Another aspect is unconfessed sins. We read above that in God there is no darkness at all that means no iota of sin and therefore, can not strand not condone sin. If we have sin in the place of prayers to God, he turns away. See Psalms 5:5, The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Psalms 38:18, For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. The only time that God rejected his beloved son when he carried the sins of the world Read Mark 15:34, And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? So having grudges, ill-will hatred, unforgiveness, bitterness envy and many more; these prevent God from answering our prayers. Even the bible enjoins us not to have such feeling even if we are coming to God for thanksgiving! Matthew 5:23-24, Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. It is only when we have a pure heart God cares to incline his ears to our prayers.Psalms 24:4, He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.Matthew 5:8, Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. See God face to face? no, but God shall entertain their request. Another aspect is that we must abide in him for God to hear us. see John 15:4, Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. It is high time we all grew in the ways of God as Christians, not deceiving ourselves.See 2 Timothy 3:13, But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. See James 1:22, But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
